OPENING WEEKS OF SCHOOL
At this time, Harpeth Hall plans to begin the 2020-2021 school year on Wednesday, August 19 with a low-density Hybrid Learning Model assuming government guidelines will allow schools to be in session.
A hybrid approach to course delivery combines face-to-face classroom instruction and online learning into one cohesive experience. The Hybrid Learning Model lowers the student density on campus and allows for more physical distancing.
Fifth graders will attend school on campus every day and students in grades 6-12 will be divided into two cohorts - Gray and Green - that will follow a Gray/Green schedule through September 4. This approach allows approximately half of the students (Gray Cohort) to be in class sessions on campus, while the other half (Green Cohort) completes assigned studies at home. The following day, the Green Cohort students will attend classes on campus, while the Gray Cohort will complete assigned studies at home. Siblings will be placed in the same cohort. The students’ remote work plans are designed to be completed asynchronously without access to the teacher. When a student is studying at home, for example, she will not be expected to Zoom into a class. She will participate in the class the next day on campus.
The first three days of school, August 19 - 21, will be half-days. On August 19, students will be grouped by grade. On August 20 and 21, students will be grouped by cohort.

If it is safe to do so, we will end the Gray/Green schedule and begin a regular schedule with safety and health precautions in place and allowances for those who need to remain at home. We will, however, continue to follow the city guidelines and may continue Gray/Green scheduling or transition to our Distance Learning Model should the need arise. We will continue to keep families updated on these decisions.
